A Note From Your Publisher: The one about my glasses advice 📝

Hey Mac Families,

I am sure that I am not the only one who has a kid who wears glasses. In fact, all of my kids wear glasses. My boys wear them all the time, and my daughter wears them for watching The Walking Dead. Um, what I mean is that she wears them very occasionally. Really happy that I spent $400+ for less than an hour of use a day. But I digress...

When my oldest was about 12 years old, he took a basketball directly to the face and his glasses were destroyed. At 8pm. On a Friday. Oooooof course.

He needed those glasses to see, but our regular eye doctor, who is amazing, could not get a new pair made in less than about two weeks. That wasn't going to work. I needed one of those one hour places. I swear that they were on every corner when I was growing up, but there were only a few left when I needed one.

I managed to find one, and had his new glasses in hand the very next day. Crisis averted. Phew.

Flash forward ten years...

I got a call from my youngest during the school day. Yes, I did have that moment of panic (you all know it) because we all know that no good calls ever come from school.

"Mom, my glasses got knocked off and stepped on while I was playing basketball at recess."

Dude. What IS it with my kids and basketball???

I ran over to school and tried to fix them myself. No go.

I ran them over to our eye doctor's office to see if they could fix them. They gave it their best college try, but they didn't stay on right and made my kid "nauseas".

DOHHHHH.

Okay, I guess I needed the one hour miracle for this one, too. That shouldn't be a problem, right? I've done this before.

Oh, but it IS a problem when you cannot find a one hour glasses place.

I admit that I started to panic. What does one DO when they have to wait two weeks for a new pair of glasses?

I finally found one after a LOOOOOOT of searching, about 40 minutes from my house. I'm pretty sure that it is the last one left in the entire state of Colorado. They did a great job, and they even had a BOGO deal, so we got two pairs. I figure that there is a solid chance that this won't be the last time that my kid (who we call The Destroyer, by the way) will need a replacement pair of glasses in a hurry, and now we have a back up. You never know when that last one hour glasses location will fall by the wayside... really hoping it sticks around, for my sake.

So, after all of that, here's what I really wanted to tell you. GET THE TWO PAIRS OF GLASSES. Your kid may not ever need the replacement, but if they do, it will most definitely happen on a Friday night at 8pm. Trust me on this. It is worth the extra money. Or, go to the last one hour glasses place and get that BOGO.

Peace ☮️, Love ❤️, & Macaroni 🌼,
